Amsonia Blue Ice is a lovely new Blue Star selection. The multi-season interest begins with a neat green-leaved form that sprouts blue flowers before ending with yellow fall foliage. Blue Ice is more dynamic in all aspects. Dark blue buds open to sky blue flowers with hints of lavender. The season will end with glowing yellow leaves on an 18" plant. Blue Stars will never be the same!

Planting & Care for Amsonia

Preparation
  • Amsonia is a fool-proof plant that will grow in almost any garden due to its low-maintenance, easy to grow and trouble-free nature.
  • A great landscape plant for the perennial border. Great plant used in mass and as edging.
  • Mature growth is around 12-15" tall and 18-24" across when mature.
  • Flowers May-June.
  • Well-drained soil in full sun to part shade (afternoon shade preferred).
  • Prefers moist, loamy soils.
  • Cut the stems back within 6-8" of the ground after flowering.
