There is a wide variety of asters, and all of them flower in late summer and the fall. Asters are extremely easy to grow and tolerate a wide range of conditions. They multiply readily and taller varieties need staking. They grow best in full sun, but will tolerate light shade. Blooming and growth may not be as prolific if they are planted in some shade. Add well-rotted organic matter to the soil. Feed and water well to counter disease. Be sure to divide in April and October. Transplant in May and sow in February and March.
