Junipers, Juniperus, are hardy conifers and one of the most versatile and drought-tolerant shrubs. They start off with spiky foliage at first, but then matures into flatter and softer foliage. The color varies in foliage to be dark green, light green, silver-blue or have even a golden tone to them. There are different forms of Junipers from low, medium-size to large, tall upright types. The low type of Junipers can be used as great groundcover in the landscape and the large, upright works well for hedges, windbreaks and screens. Junipers as a whole will tolerate many soil types, but prefers well-draining soils and sunny spots in the landscape.
