Many of the 50 species of privet have been grown in the past as hedges. This variety can be quick growing, hardy and easy-care plant, able to tolerate a wide range of conditions. It can be grown as a solid dividing hedge, or can be clipped and pruned to give all kinds of different shapes. They prefer full sun and soil should be well drained by it does not need to be rich.
