Spectacular blooms, large handsome leaves and an ability to grow almost anywhere sunny, buddleia is a good choice for beginner gardeners. Butterfly bush from the (Buddleja) genus are distinct and hardy deciduous shrubs. They have cone-shaped flowers with dark purple, purplish red, pink, white or blue. They yield a waterfall of shoots sleeved with soft purple flowers. These plants perform best in full sun, but tolerate slight shade. They thrive in most soils, they prefer a well-drained position enriched with organic matter. Cones or globes of blossom light up summer. Hardy at 14 degrees Fahrenheit. Can plant March-November.
