St. John's Wort

St. John's Wort, Hypericum, typically grows around 12" high and 24" high and is typically grown as groundcover. The best feature are the oversize, bold, rose-like yellow blooms (5-petaled, 2-3" diameter) that appear in summer. Since ancient times, St. John's Worst has been used to treat wounds. As mentioned before, it works best if grown as groundocver, but it can be planted near rock gardens and border fronts. It prefers well-drained and full sun to part shade and will tolerate a wide range of soils (thrives in sandy soils).
