McKay maintains an extensive propagation department that includes a research and development program.  Our goal is to produce the best plant varieties, with superior characteristics for our rigorous northern midwest climate. McKay plants are grown in natural field conditions. A comprehensive root pruning and transplanting program helps to assure a plant that will adapt as quickly as possible to your environment. Over 1,800 acres of fields allow us to grow the widest variety of hardy nursery stock possible. Economies of scale, buying "direct" (McKay plants are brought right from our nursery to you) and providing the option of bare root handling allow us to present a superior level of breeding, quality, and service at a very competitive price.
